Begin at the beginning

Now that I did this blog thing I don't know what to say.

Ahem
Well, at least the snow has mostly melted and I can see the garden again, be it ever so unattractive.
I have a couple of magazines spread out before me with pictures of gardens in full glory.

"Ooooh. Look at that, would jah?  What is that?!"

and

"Well obviously that is not a Colorado garden (too many tropical plants)"

and

"Piffff, they probably had a whole team of gardeners work on this before they took this pic."

Part of the reason why I torture myself on January 22 is because I need to remind myself of the style I like.
Usually I run out helter-skelter to a nursery and buy the first plant I see come spring and end up wondering where to put it.
Its important to make a plan.  What is my style?  I prefer a more formal garden than a cottage garden or wildflower field.  Little ones in the front to bigger plants in the back.  With a backdrop of green, if you please.  Yes, yes, that's it.
I have a few magazine clippings hidden behind doors to keep me focused.  I just have to remember to look.

What about the veggies?  The new thing now is to tuck them in among the other plantings.  There are advantages to that.  Some stinky flowers keep the bugs away.  Hmmmm.

I'll take this up again tomorrow.
